Bright Lights, Big City!
This itinerary is for those who are looking for the tourist’s heart in New York City. I believe every location has “tourist attractions” for a reason: they’re interesting, they’re historical, and they’re often done in some form of fun medium (a tour bus with a singing host, a duck boat, etc.). I believe all travelers should experience such attractions at least once in every destination. This post is for those who wish to do so. I laced up my skates and took to the ice at Rockefeller Center. While clutching the guard railing, I learned that the great 50 Rockefeller Plaza was originally built for the Associated Press and was home many news agencies, press bureaus and other journalistic practitioners. Toweringabove the infamous skating rink is something I routinely see at 11:30 every Saturday night: Atlas. Atlas is a famous figure from Greek mythology who was a half-man, half-god giant known as a Titan. He helped lead a war against the Olympic gods. After the Titans’ defeat, Atlas was condemned to a life with the world on his shoulders. Who said you wouldn’t learn anything on Saturday Night Live? I strolled past the NBC Rainbow Room, Virgin, Times Square, and some of the most astoundingly beautiful cathedrals. New York has almost too much to offer. Take a peak at some of my eye candies; I can’t wait to be a hot child in the city, runnin’ wild and lookin’ pretty (courtesy of Nick Gilder).
